적용 To produce high purity isobutylene by decomposing methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE).
설명 Description: At a moderately elevated pressure MTBE from an MTBE synthesis is mixed with a recycle stream, heated to 140 to 200℃ and split into isobutylene and methanol over a fixed-bed acidic catalyst according to :

(CH3)3 COCH3 --> (CH3)2C = CH2 + MeOH

   The reactor (1) effluent is separated in the deisobutanizer (2) into an isobutylene/methanol azeotrope overhead and an MTBE/MePH bottom product. The azeotrope is treated in a methanol recovery section consisting of an extraction (3) and a distillation tower (4). The wet isobutylene is freed of water and dimethyl ether - a side product of the MTBE decomposition - by molecular sieve adsorption (5) to yield isobutylene in 99.9% purity. The MTBE/MeOH mixture is split in an additional tower (6) into an overhead MTBE containing recycle stream, a side cut to remove the traces of C8-olefins formed during MTBE decomposition and the bottom product methanol.
