적용 | To produce ethanol from ethylene and demineralized water using direct hydration. | ||||||||||||
설명 | Description: Ethylene and process water together with the recycled ethylene are preheated in heat exchangers by the reaction products leaving the reactor and superheated to 503 to 523 °K. The reaction takes place in the reactor (1) at about 70 bar pressure over a fixed catalyst with a lifetime of about three years following the equation:
The gas charged with ethanol after passing the heat exchanger is cooled and washed with water in the scrubber (2) and then returned by the recycle compressor. The condensate and scrubber effluent is flashed (4), the occurring gas is recycled to the synthesis loop, and the dilute crude ethanol is fed to the purifiction section (5-9), where it is freed from the impurities by extractive distillation with water. Ethanol is withdrawn as azeotrope from the rectifying column and can be dehydrated in two further colunms by using an entrainer. Ethanol 94.5% by weight and water-free are produced. Excess of water can be desalted (10) to generate process water.
Utilities (including dehydration) per ton of ethanol:
One of the advantages of the process is that isopropanol can be produced in the same installtion with only slight additional investment and without changing the catalyst. |
