The paper presents a short description of topics and problems involved in a relatively new research methodology called the numerical simulation. The method has been classified as the third branch of science beside pure theory and pure experiment. Some general principles are shown concerning any use of this methodology and the main procedure is presented. The advantages and limitations of the simulation techniques are described as well as the prospects in near future. Some selected own simulation results are presented.
