Analysis of pinewood destruction by making use of acoustic emission
The aim of this paper is the quantitative and energy analysis of the acoustic emission (AE) signals that are generated during convective drying of sapwood samples of cylindrical form. The registered AE signals illustrate the dynamics of drying processes and give evidence on defects and discontinuities in wood structure generated during drying. The presented study proves an existence of the relation between the evolution of emitted AE signals in time, their energy, and the destruction of sapwood samples.
