CFD method has been used to model a batch stirred tank reactor with homogeneous chemical reaction (exothermic esterification reaction). The elaborated reactor model has been verified with use of the experimental results. The main aim of performed studies was a determination of local temperature distribution inside the reactor vessel and an estimation of the conditions for a global thermal runaway.
