Recently we have observed the transformation of the chemical and process engineering from a discipline that largely focused on macroscopic phenomena to one that is more interdisciplinary and molecularly based. This molecular approach presents a challenge, of which taking up will determine the role and place of this discipline in the 21(st) century.
