The aim of the work was analysis of possibility of absorbers modernization. The absorbers are used in industrial scale in the technology of wet removal of SO2 from flue gases. The main reason of low efficiencies is unsuitable designed of absorber; existing spray headers are not properly selected to flow profile of flue gas by absorber. Modernization of spray headers was proposed; efficiency of spray nozzles was adapted to flue gas distribution along the absorber cross section.
