Suspending of floating solids in an agitated vessel
The effects of the agitator type and baffles arrangement on the minimum agitator speed needed for suspension of floating particles in a liquid have been analysed. An agitated vessel was used of inner diameter D = 0.295 m equipped with standard or short baffles. Mixing in the unbaffled vessel was also considered. The Rushton turbine as well as up- or down-pumping pitched blade turbines and propeller were used in the study.
