Secondary rehydration of porous materials with residual stresses after drying
The aim of this paper was to study the conditions of origination of the residual stresses in capillary porous materials subjected to drying, and the influence of these stresses on the material deformation during secondary rehydration. One assumes that the dry material becomes viscoelastic during the secondary rehydration and suffers not only swelling but also creep due to residual stresses. The considerations were performed on the cylindrically shaped sample made of isotropic material. The curves of material deformation resulting from the secondary rehydration have been compared with the experimental data taken from the literature. One states a good agreement of the experimental and theoretical results.
