Adhesive Contact Between a Rigid Axisymmetric Indenter and a neo-Hookean Solid
Advances in fabrication of various mechanical structures of small volume have stimulated research on the adhesive contact of solid surfaces. This work analyzes the effect of finite stretching on adhesive contact between an axisymmetric indenter and a neo-Hookean solid with frictionless contact condition. Explicit solutions of the pull-off force for separating the indenter from the neo-Hookean solid are derived. The results show that the stretching dependence of the pull-off force is a function of the surface profile of the indenter. The stretching has little effect on the surface interaction of solid surfaces, while it changes the adhesive contact between the indenter and the substrate.
