Canada - World leader in hydrocarbon Miscible flooding
Canada's leadership in enhanced oil recovery with hydrocarbon miscible flooding is amply demonstrated in a large number of highly successful field applications. The oil industry in Canada has made good use of research findings to achieve optimum oil recovery and profits with miscible flooding. Miscible fluid banks have been formulated to achieve and maintain miscibility, and to increase the sweep efficiency. In addition, enormous attention has been paid to the design, operation, and monitoring of each application. There have been 61 floods in Canada, of which only eight can be said to have failed. As a result, miscible flooding has added approximately 32% to the ultimate oil recovery in Canada, nearly doubling the average oil recovery normally attained with water flooding.
