Partitioning of gluconic acid between water and trioctyl methylammonium chloride and organic solvents
Phase equilibria governing the reactive extraction of gluconic acid from aqueous solution into solutions of trioctyl methylammonium chloride in the single solvents cyclohexane, hexane, 2,2,4-trimethyl pentane, 1-butanol, toluene, methyl isobutyl ketone, and ethyl acetate are investigated. All measurements were carried out at 298.15 K. The distribution coefficients, D, loading factors, Z, and extraction efficiencies, E, are derived. The maximum removal of gluconic acid is mass 69% with methyl isobutyl ketone with a 1.71 mol• L-1 initial concentration of trioctyl methylammonium chloride.
