Adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solutions on a Moroccan clay
In this work, an equilibrium adsorption isotherm for the removal of a basic dye, Methylene Blue (MB), from aqueous solution on a natural Moroccan clay mineral has been investigated. Equilibrium data are mathematically modeled using the Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models. The adsorption kinetics of MB has also been studied in terms of pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order. A maximum adsorption capacity of 135 mg.g(-1) at equilibrium is achieved, indicating that the material could be used as a low-cost alternative in wastewater treatment for the removal of color and dyes.
