Liquid-Liquid Equilibria for Methanol/Ethanol plus Rubidium Carbonate plus Water Systems at Different Temperatures
Liquid-liquid equilibria for the two ternary systems of CH(3)OH + Rb(2)CO(3) + H(2)O and CH(3)CH(2)OH + Rb(2)CO(3) + H(2)O were measured at T = (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K. Binodal curves, tie-lines, and integrated phase diagrams for the two ternary systems are given. The experimental binodal curve data are correlated using a three-parameter equation, and the tie-line data are corrected by the Othmer-Tobias and Bancroft equations. The salting-out effect of ethanol is greater than that for methanol, but the effect of temperature on the equilibrium was not significant.
