Measurement of salt effect of LiCl on vapor-liquid equilibria for ethyl acetate plus ethanol, ethanol plus 1-propanol, and ethyl acetate plus ethanol plus 1-propanol by headspace gas chromatography
Salt effects of LiCl on vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) for mixfures of ethyl acetate + 1-propanol, ethanol + 1-propanol, and ethyl acetate + ethanol + 1-propanol were measured by using headspace gas chromatography (HSGC) at 313.15 K. Applying HSGC to measurement of VLE has the advantages of requiring (1) short measurement time and (2) small sample volume. In the binary solvents + salt systems, measured data were correlated with a modified solvation model and an electrolyte NRTL equation. As a result, each model showed good correlative accuracy. In the ternary solvents + salt system, the measured data were compared with those predicted by a modified solvation model and electrolyte NRTL equation by using a parameter determined from binary solvents + salt system. The predicted data agreed well with observation.
