Testing of elastomers using new non-destructive techniques
A survey on ultrasound techniques, optical techniques, thermography, microwave and x-ray techniques and one-side access nuclear magnetic resonance is given with respect to applications on non destructive testing of elastomers. The applications are detection of coating delamination, imaging of the internal microstructure of complicated shaped objects and characterisation of ageing, hardness and moisture content of materials. One-side access nuclear magnetic resonance allows a detection depth of up to 30 mm on large test objects.
