A new concept for the calculation of hysteretic friction of elastomers on fractal surfaces
This paper presents a new concept for the calculation of hysteretic friction of elastomers on fractal surfaces. When rubber slides over such a surface it is deformed on a broad frequency scale which leads to a frictional force caused by energy dissipation when passing hysteresis cycles. The hysteretic friction coefficient can now be computed in dependence of velocity and the results show good agreement with experimental data.
