Electrical conductivity and carbon network in polymer composites
The present work considers the void-volume concept under a new angle. The evolution of the volume of a given carbon black weight under increasing pressure as well as the evolution of the electrical resistivity is analysed. The mechanical properties of carbon blacks are found to be mainly governed by their electrical charge. A mechanism for the interaction between the carbon black aggregates based on electrical interpretation of the mechanical properties is proposed.
