This article summarizes issues associated with the vulcanizing systems used in latex product manufacture, including industrial hygiene (dust, packaging), zinc and nitrosamines. The allergy problems which appears to affect only dipped goods is briefly summarized by reviewing the treatments described in literature that might help minimize residual allergens. References are given on how to access information on food contact regulations and legislation in Europe.
