Electrical resistivity and thermal expansion coefficient of carbon black filled compounds around T-g
Measurements of volume resistivity of carbon black filled rubber compounds were performed over a wide temperature range. To complement these experiments, thermal expansion results were collected using a system based on Michelson Interferometer. Rubber compounds filled with different amounts of carbon black and having different dispersion levels were measured. it was found that the thermal expansion of rubbers is significantly depressed by the presence of carbon black and its magnitude could be correlated with the filler network density. In addition, the volume resistivity data could not be correlated with thermal expansion measurements for the investigated systems.
