According to the Machinery Directive, injection moulding machines are among the types of machine that represent a 'greater potential risk'. They are listed in Appendix IV of the Machinery Directive. In an injection moulding machine, the greatest risk is in the mould area, in which above all the closing movement of the platen and the mould half connected to it have to be particularly well protected.
