Pulsed cooling offers both an elegant and an energetically favourable means of cooling an injection mould that has a uniform initial temperature. It is shown with the help of an FE simulation that the use of pulsed cooling markedly improves the uniformity of the temperature distribution on the mould surface and the insensitivity to disruptions in the injection moulding cycle.
