While laser beam welding of thermoplastic components is becoming increasingly widespread, the method has one major disadvantage: there is only a limited range of component colours to choose from. A new processing method may remedy this detriment, since it allows a free choice of colour for the visible outer plastic piece to be joined, which determines the optical appearance.
