Plastic welding. Diode lasers have been used for several years for welding containers, electronics housings, automotive parts and sheet or film. The higher power of the new generation of diode lasers allows for faster processing speeds in plastic welding, thus increasing overall productivity. The article summarises results from tests on the influence of laser power carried out for a customer, and explains quantitatively the possible effects of higher laser powers on productivity.
