Compared with glass mat-reinforced thermoplastics (GMT) and direct long fibre-reinforced thermoplastics (D-LFT), the material concept of low weight reinforced thermoplastics (LWRT) can yield a lower weight per unit area and an increased flexural strength. LWRT technology has been developed by Seeber AG to suit mass-production and will be used during the production of the new BMW 5 and 6 models.
