A new automated production process known as E-LFT (endless-fibre-reinforced, long-fibre thermoplastics) has been developed to produce structural components. This process is a combination of the established method for producing components from long-fibre thermoplastics with the strategic use of complex multiple inserts of unidirectional endless fibres. E-LFT materials therefore offer a genuine alternative to steel and aluminium for structural applications.
