Direct drive provides benefits in extrusion
DRIVE TECHNOLOGY Equipping single-screw extruders with direct electric drives - so-called torque motors - provides a number of benefits. The motor connects directly to the screw shank, so that gearbox, coupling and belt drive can be eliminated This reduces maintenance expenses and space requirements. The extruders exhibit a higher overall efficiency and are noticeably quieter than conventional drives. The uniform motor rpm translates into a uniform extrudate. Moreover the hallow shaft of the torque motor permits a screw change from either direction.
