RAILROAD ROLLING STOCK. The privatisation of railroads in Europe has led to a phase of innovation. Fibre-reinforced composites are playing an important role in engineering material development because they reduce weight and can be exactly tailored to meet the calculated stresses. The article describes materials and processing methods for pioneering fibre-reinforced material applications in railroad rolling stock.
