Measurements of Ultrasonic Velocity and Attenuation in Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Films Using Fast Fourier-Transform
The first part of this study deals with the design of a new instrument for measuring the velocity and attenuation of ultrasonic waves propagating in thin polymeric films. The experimental results indicate a large anisotropy. In addition, a strong velocity and attenuation dependence on both frequency and temperature has been observed. The results are explained by means of phenomenological theory.
