Correlations Between Rheological and Mechanical-Properties of Mineral Filled Polypropylene Compounds
A comparative study of rheological and mechanical properties of Polypropylene compounds with talc as a mineral filler is presented. It turns out that the main factors determining the mechanical behavior, namely (a) filler concentration, (b) filler particle size, and (c) degree of dispersion, influence the linear viscoelastic properties as well. Thus, a quick method for estimating compound properties from melt rheology is established.
