Quantifying performance improvements from powerplant upgrades
In designing upgrade projects, planners cite specific goals-such as "will improve heat rate by 200 Btu/kWh" or "will enhance load-following ability by 20%." But often it's difficult to prove that the goals were met, because baseline conditions aren't known or can't be duplicated. Empirically derived computer simulations can help.
