Photochemical reactions of methyl ethyl disulfide, which was isolated from the "disulfide oil" manufactured by the Tengiz gas processing plant, with heptene-1 and octene-1 at a twofold excess of the disulfide, were studied. It was found that the products of thiyl-radical addition across the C=C bond of a corresponding olefin formed in a quantitative yield under the given conditions.
