The Spectral Fluorescent Signatures (SFS) technology has been applied to investigate the seasonal and annual variability of dissolved organic matter (DOM), dissolved organic cal-bon (DOC), phytoplankton and organic pollution in Estonian rivers and coastal zone. Statistical analysis of data collected in 1996-1998 allowed to perform the classification of natural waters by using DOM/DOC ratio as a characteristic parameter.
