Vibrational (infrared) spectroscopy used for the identification of corrosion products is still in its infancy. Identification of phases of corrosion products by infrared spectroscopy, duly supported by X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis data, is presented in this paper with a view to demonstrate the potential of the technique.
