The development of ion exchange-resin-catalyzed syntheses of p-alkylphenois
A review covering Polish works intended to increase the p-isomer percentage in octyl, nonyl and dodecyl-phenois produced by alkylation with olefins over selected macroporous (cat)ion exchange resins as catalysts, e.g. Amberlyst-16. Polish circulating reactors give selectivities higher than 99%. Reaction selectivity and yield are controlled by phenol/ole-fin mole ratio, catalyst activity, and temperature.
