Drying of biomass with superheated steam to produce pelletized biofuel
Computer simulations were carried out to compare a hot-air rotary drier with a superheated-steam drier in drying 5 m.t./h (wet basis) of 12x4x1-mm pine chips (15degreesC) from 60% to 8% moisture content with steam superheated at 170degreesC. Up to 80% of the heat delivered can be recovered.
