A review with 31 refs. covering industrial alkylation of benzene over zeolite catalysts to ethylbenzene and cumene, including the Mobil-Badger, Lummus-Unocal-UOP, Lummus-UOP and CDTech (catalytic distillation) processes to alkylate benzene with ethylene and the Dow and Kellogg's 3-DDM, Mobil-Raytheon and UOP's Q-max processes to alkylate benzene with propylene to yield cumene. The Eni-chem process and CDCumene catalytic distillation were also described and compared.
