Drying designed with a minimized experimental program
Corn, sand and (NH4)(2)SO4 were dried In a fluidized bed at Inlet air temps. 315-350 K, Initial bed heights 0.05-0.35 m and air velocities 0.1-1.8 m/s. The expti. data were used to verify a mathematical model of batch drying In a fluidized bed. A semi-empirical drying design method based on the generalized drying curve was used. The method was found useful for materials showing the first and the second, or only the second, drying periods, and it was recommended for the Geldart classification Group B materials.
