The effect of pulp's chemical composition on the aging of paper
Sheets of 75-g/m(2) paper prepd. from softwood bleached sulfate pulp, chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP), deinked waste paper pulp, ground wood pulp and waste paper pulp (newspaper) were aged 72 hrs. at 80 degrees C and 65% relative humidity, and for comparison, for 288 hrs. Breaking length, elongation, bursting strength, tear resistance were reduced. Tear resistance was most reduced in the bleached sulfate pulp paper. Whiteness was much impaired (yellowing), except for CTMP.
