Effect of recycling the process streams on the process course and properties of glycidyl trimethyloloypropane ether
Trimethylol PrH (1) was glycidylated with epichlorohydrin (II) at 55 degrees C on solid NaOH (mol. ratio I:II.-NaOH 1:18:5) under recycling of process streams. The glycidilated I showed high epoxy no. (0.8 mol/100 g), low viscosity (below 100 mPa center dot s at 25 degrees C), and a low content of hydrolysable Cl (below 0.6%). The repeated recycling of nonconverted II resulted in increasing efficiency of its use. The glycidylated I was used as a reactive dilutent for epoxy resins to red. their viscosity and improve properties of the final composites after curing.
