(8E, I 10z)-Tetradeca-8, 1 O-dienal female sex pheromone was synthesized by cross-coupling 1-pentynylmagnesium bromide with (E)-1,5-diiodopent-l-ene on Pd catalyst to resp. enyne, its reaction with a Grignard reagent prepared by converting 2-(3-chloropropyl)-1,3-dioxane in presence of CuBr, following redn. of its triple-bond with dicyclohexylborhydride and final removal of carbonyl group protection from the intermediate propheromone. The pheromone was successfully used in field tests for controlling Cameraria ohridelia.
