Determination of crosslinking degree of ethylene polymers
Three ethylene(I)-derived polymers (low-d. poly-I LD-PE, linear low-d. poly-I LLD-PE, I-vinyl acetate copolymer EVA) were crosslinked with dicumyl peroxide (II) (0.05-2.5% by mass) and studied for the equil. swelling coeff., polymer fraction in the swollen get, av. mol. mass between the network joints, gel no., d. and elongation at 200 degrees C. The gel no. increased and the mol. mass and elongation decreased with increasing II concn. Little differences in polymer d. were obsd. The highest ability to crosslinking was found for EVA, the lowest for LD-PE.
