An efficient 2-stage method for synthesis of doxercalciferol used in disorders of Ca-P homeostasis in chronic dialysis patients was developed. The method was based on an advanced vitamin intermediate (produced at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Warsaw), and used in the specially designed photoisomerization apparatus. The conversion degrees in particular stages were 70% and 90%. The purity of crude product was 98%.
