Effect of substituting calcium carbonate for calcium chloride with or without benzoic acid in pig growing-finishing mixtures on blood metabolic profile and reduction of nitrogen emission to environment
CaCO(3) was replaced with CaCl(2) or CaCl(2)/PhCOOH mixt. in feed of 120 growing-finishing pigs to study the changes in blood (proteins, uric acid, creatinine, urea) of the pigs, their daily gains and N balance. The replacement of CaCO(3) with CaCl(2) did not result in any important changes except for a decrease of pH of urine. The addn. of PhCOOH resulted in a decrease in N emission to the environment without any substantial losses of meat productivity.
