An atoxic anticorrosive pigment for priming paints
Twelve corrosion-inhibiting oxide pigment were produced by melting of mixed inorganic salt at 1100 degrees C. The pulverized to grain size below 5 mu m and studied by X-ray analysis. The pigments were used in priming polyvinyl coatings on steel substrate and tested for anticorrosion activity in salt and wet SO(2) chambers and by potentiodynamic methods. The most efficient was the pigment containing 22% MoO(3). Optimum content of this pigment in polyvinyl primer was established at 2% mass. The coating of the pigment grains with polyaniline resulted in decrease of its anticorrosive activity.
