Pendimethalin was incorporated into Na alginate-matrix to obtain its controlled release formulation. Vegetable oil was used as solvent of pendimethalin and CaCl(2) as crosslinking agent. The spherical hydro gel capsules were studied for mech. strength (compression) and phytotoxicity against maize. The formulation produced was less phytotoxic than a corn. formulation used for comparison.
