Cerium(IV) Tellurite Halides [Ce2Te7O17]X-2 (X = Cl- or Br-): The First Cerium-Containing Cationic Frameworks
Two isotypic cerium tellurite halides with the formulas [Ce2Te7O17]Cl-2 and [Ce2Te7O17]Br-2 have been synthesized hydrothermally via the reactions of CeCl3 and CeBr3 with TeO2. The structures of these compounds feature a cationic inorganic framework. The Celv dimers are bound by a novel 3D Te7O176- building unit, forming an unusual hexagonal-bipyramidal environment around Ce-IV.
