Effect of corona treatment on wettability and surface free energy of polylactid composites
Com. polylactide and 5 its blends with atactic poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid), poly(propylene adipate), 2 mixts. of a copolymer of 1,4-butylene adipate and terephthalate with a copolymer of hydroxybutyric and hydroxyvaleric acids (I) and the copolymer I with hydroxy butyl units were prepd. by film extrusion at 190 degrees C, corona treated at 23 degrees C (up to 6 kJ/m(2)) and studied for contact angle with H2O and CH2I2. Wettability measurements were performed by goniometry and calcn. of the surface free energy by the Owens-Wendt method. The expected modification of the surface properties was achieved at the corona treatment energy 4 kJ/m(2) (or above).
