Crop of sweet sorghum (BMR Elite) and a hybrid of sorghum and sudan grass (Nutri Honey) was disintegrated (size 5 mm harvest date but the) and processed by pressing (30 atm) to recover juice (yield 14-32 and 11-25 t/ha, resp.). The juice yield decreased with increasing harvest date but the content of org. matter in the juice showed 2 maxima at 3. and 7. harvest dates. The juice was fermented to EtOH by using Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 30 degrees C. The EtOH yield was 31.7-61.5 L/t of juice for the BMR Elite variety and 32.9-51.2 L/t of juice for Nutri Honey.
