Role of mineral wool and sewage sludge in increasing the nitrogen content in soilless reclaimed formations
Strongly acidic soil from the former S mine was neutralized with post-flotation lime, then improved with municipal sewage sludge dose and spent mineral wool and then planted with a reclamation mixt. of grasses. During 3 yr long culture, the soil was analyzed for contents of total, ammonium and nitrate N. The reclamation resulted in increase in the N content (all forms) and substantial improvement of the soil quality.
